Make your golf cart lighter and faster

The average speed of a standard golf cart is 15 mph (and the maximum). So getting from one hole to the next can be a very slow process. But, there are several ways you can make your shopping cart lighter and faster as well. Many companies sell different items to help you with this task.

The first step is to try to lose weight. Anything from extra cup holders to unnecessary fancy rims on wheels.

A very simple but often overlooked improvement is making sure the bottom of the camper is clean of debris. Mud and other lumpy debris will slow the trolley down considerably.

You can also add larger frames. The larger the tire size, the higher the revolution and thus the faster the trolley. Plus, the thicker tires will have more traction to handle faster speeds more effectively (and keep you safe). You can get tires at any golf cart store or even online.

Also, make sure the tires are properly inflated. Weak inflation, like normal cars, reduces their speed.

If you install a higher RPM high-speed electric motor, it will also help the cart go a little faster on the course.

You can also modify the ruler or remove it entirely. The governor determines the maximum speed the golf cart can reach. Mounts to most strollers for safety.

If you replace the existing gear sets with ones with a lower ratio, this will also improve the overall speed of the trolley. The standard gear setting on a buggy is usually 12.5:1 which will result in a top speed of 14-15 mph. But an 8:1 gear set will increase the speed to about 20 mph.

If you have an electric golf cart, making it faster involves a few different techniques and can be a bit more difficult.

To increase the speed on your electric buggy, you’ll want to get a new battery—one that will increase the engine’s output. Most electric golf carts are already made to work with a wide range of batteries, so finding one that will maximize output shouldn’t be a problem.

You can also get a new electric motor if you can’t get a new battery. This may be the only way to increase your speed if you realize that you are already using the highest possible effort.

Like traditional golf carts, you can also upgrade the gear system on electric carts to make them go faster. Electric cars usually have an 8:1 gear ratio. By switching it to 12:1, you will increase the speed. However, keep in mind that as you improve your cart’s speed, you can take advantage of its ability to haul heavy items.

Many custom vehicles can do all of this for you, but at a much higher price. But with a little knowledge and time, you can get your golf cart to speed (safely, of course) from green to green.
